April Newsletter – That Time Already

Hello Everyone

Why do ‘they’ mess around with the hour?  It is not as if you get any extra daylight by altering the clocks.  Celestial mechanics pay absolutely no attention to anything ‘they’ do.  So why do it?  It only upsets our body clocks whilst animals and the rest of nature don’t pay any attention to our foibles.  However, I suppose it gives us something to moan about apart from the weather and politics.

Time is such an awkward thing to measure and use.  The year’s 365 days don’t fit into any natural division, neither do the days of the month.  To set Christmas day and New Year’s day on 25th December and 1st January respectively is quite an arbitrary decision.  Those days bear no relation to any natural phenomenon.

Easter is a different matter, although some people want to ‘anchor’ even that to an arbitrary date.  The natural timekeepers of the Sun and Moon are there to use but it can be confusing.  The quarter days of the Sun’s orbit, i.e. the two Solstices and the two Equinoxes together with the quarter days of the Moon’s orbit, i.e. Full Moon, New Moon and the First and Third Quarter Moons, have always been seen as something to peg holidays or ‘holy days’ on.  They are natural events in the heavens and are part of the Easter equation.  Easter Day is the first Sunday after the first Full Moon after the Spring Equinox.  Got it?

Changing the subject…

Who said British Ingenuity was dead?  Or is it British Bodging?

The usual updates are there – Planting by the Moon and Astrology for Healers and Therapists.

Let’s hope for a peaceful month and Easter blessings.
