Hello Everyone
I have been told that all that religious stuff is irrelevant today, out of date and of no consequence in real life. Obviously I cannot agree!
From time to time, in the counselling room, it is pertinent to ask what the Client understands by ‘self-love’. Some people think it is a variation of being selfish, but most people understand it to mean a deeper sense of self-respect. Exploring that with a Client usually results in the Client seeing that you cannot hold onto your self-respect unless you also respect other people. As soon as you hold another person in disrespect, then some part of your self-respect takes a knock. It is one thing to be angry when someone does you down, it is another thing entirely when you initiate the disrespect. There is a necessary and constant balance to be sought between feelings of guilt, concern, respect, compassion, self-esteem and selfishness. It is never something that can be taken for granted; there is always a dynamism at work. And when you bring feelings of otherness or spirituality into the mix, then it can be very difficult to see motivation clearly, with action taken and reactions following on. Such is the warp and weft of Life in Life’s Rich Pattern.
Guess what! That seeking after balance is nothing new. Someone said it a few thousand years ago when they quoted – “Love the Lord your God”, and “Love your neighbour as yourself”.
The usual updates are there – Planting by the Moon and Astrology for Healers and Therapists.
Have a great month and Equinox.
Blessings
John
